يَاO سَاكِناًdwelling in قَلْبِيmy heart المُعَنَّىthe tormented
يَا سَاكِناً قَلْبِي المُعَنَّى
وَلَيْسَand there is not فيهin it سِوَاهbesides him ثانِيa second
وَلَيْسَ فيه سِوَاه ثانِي
O you who dwell in my tormented heart,
O dweller of my heart, the beloved
And there is no second within it besides him,
None but you resides within
لأَيِّfor what مَعْنَىreason كَسَرْتَyou broke قَلْبيmy heart
لأَيِّ مَعْنَى كَسَرْتَ قَلْبي
وَماand not التَقَىmet فيهِin it سَاكِنَانِtwo dwellers
وَما التَقَى فيهِ سَاكِنَانِ
For what reason have you broken my heart,
For what purpose have you shattered my heart
When no two dwellers have met within it?
When two cannot live there in
