مِثْلُ الغَزالِ نَظْرةً وَلفْتَةً
مَنْwho رآهsaw him مُقْبِلاًapproaching ولاand not افْتَتَنْwas bewitched
مَنْ رآه مُقْبِلاً ولا افْتَتَنْ
Like a gazelle in glance and turn.
Like a gazelle with glance and turn
Who has seen him approaching and not been bewitched?
Who sees him coming, won't yearn?
أَحْسَنُfairest خَلْقِcreation اللَّهGod وَجْهاًin face وفماًand in mouth
أَحْسَنُ خَلْقِ اللَّه وَجْهاً وفماً
إنْif لَمْnot يَكُنْhe is أَحقَّmost worthy بالحُسْنِof beauty فَمَنْthen who
إنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَحقَّ بالحُسْنِ فَمَنْ
The fairest of God's creation in face and mouth.
Fairest face and mouth God made
If he is not most worthy of beauty, then who is?
If not the handsomest, who swayed?
فيin جِسْمِهhis body وَصُدْغِهand his sidelock وشَكْلِهِand his form
في جِسْمِه وَصُدْغِه وشَكْلِهِ
الماءُwater والخُضْرَةُand greenery والوَجْهُand the face الحَسَنْhandsome
الماءُ والخُضْرَةُ والوَجْهُ الحَسَنْ
In his body, his sidelock, and his form
In his body, cheek, and form
are water, greenery, and a handsome face.
