إِنْif صَدَّhe turns away وأَضْحَىand comes to لِلجَفَاto estrangement يَعْتَمِدُhe resorts
أَوْor زَالَfades وِدَادُهُhis affection الَّذيwhich أَعْتَقِدُI believe in
If he turns away and comes to choose estrangement,
If he is harsh and unkind, relying on disdain,
Or his affection, in which I believe, fades,
Or if his affection, which I cherish, should wane,
فَالأَمْرُthen the choice لَهُis his وَمَاand no عَلَيْهِupon him حَرَجٌblame
لاَnot يَدْخُلُcomes بَيْنَهُbetween him وبَيْنِيand between me أَحَدُanyone
Then the choice is his, and no blame rests on him;
Then the matter rests with him - no burden he'll sustain;
No one comes between him and me.
None shall intrude between us, of this I'm certain.
