غَداةَat the dawn of الشبابِyouth وَنَيْلِand the attainment of الأمانيwishes
I swear by the sweetness of time's youth,
With the prime of youth and the morn of wishes,
at youth's dawn and the fulfillment of wishes,
The cool of youth and cool of wine,
وبُرْدِand the mantle of الشّبابِyouth وَبَرْدِand the coolness of الشرابِthe drink
وَوَصْلِand union with الكِعَابِfull-breasted maidens وَظِلِّand the shade of الأَمَانِsafety
and by youth's mantle and the coolness of drink,
And join of friends in shelter's peace,
and union with full-breasted maidens and the shade of safety,
The spirit of gardens, the ease of life;
وَروحِand the refreshing breeze of الجِنَانِthe gardens وَراحِand the wine of الدّنَانِthe wine jars
غَداةَon the morning of التَّعطُّفِtender bending مِنْfrom خَيْزُرَانِbamboo
and the gardens' refreshing breeze and the wine of the jars,
When the soft airs spoke in the lithe boughs,
on the morning of a bamboo cane's tender bending,
And melodies in the plaintive songs-

and every gentle breath of the east wind,
And all was dew-drenched fragrance there,
and every delightful note of the lute strings,
A moon-rise on the bows of ban.

A gracious life midst the heights was mine,
that took shape as a full moon upon a bān-tree branch—
Spacious life midst thick-fruited trees,

A life of faith, a life fulfilled

unyielding in pride, faithful in fidelity,
I'll rise to glory, rise yet higher,
radiant in splendor, lucid in expression:
On fortune's summit sure and broad.

I shall surely strive toward glory, rising through it
upon the crest of honor, secure in its station.
