قُلْتُ لِلائِمِ في الدَّمْ
عِcompletes الدمع, meaning 'the tears' وَقَدْand indeed نَمَّbetrayed بِحَاليabout my state
عِ وَقَدْ نَمَّ بِحَالي
I said to the one reproaching me for my tears,
I said to the one blaming me for shedding tears
which had betrayed my state:
While he was sleeping unaware of my state
مُنْذُsince أَحْبَبْتُI loved عَلِيّاًAli
مُنْذُ أَحْبَبْتُ عَلِيّاً
صَارَbecame دَمْعِيmy tears مُتَواليcontinuous
صَارَ دَمْعِي مُتَوالي
Since I fell in love with Ali,
Since I fell in love with Ali
my tears have become unceasing.
My tears have been continuously flowing
