لُبُّmind العانيthe captive بِصَدِّهِby his turning away بَلْبَلَهُhe bewildered it
لُبُّ العاني بِصَدِّهِ بَلْبَلَهُ
وَالقَلْبُand the heart بِنارِwith the fire of هَجْرِهِhis estrangement أَشْعَلَهُhe set it ablaze
وَالقَلْبُ بِنارِ هَجْرِهِ أَشْعَلَهُ
He bewildered the captive’s mind by his turning away.
The lover's grief confounded him,
And set the heart ablaze with the fire of his estrangement.
And the heart inflamed by abandonment's fire.
إِنif أَنْكَرَhe denies وَجْدِيmy passion وَعَنَاand suffered القَلْبُthe heart بِهِbecause of him
إِن أَنْكَرَ وَجْدِي وَعَنَا القَلْبُ بِهِ
هَاbehold دَمْعيَmy tears سائِلٌflowing; also, questioning لِكَيْso that يَسأَلَهُit questions him
هَا دَمْعيَ سائِلٌ لِكَيْ يَسأَلَهُ
If he denies my passion, while my heart suffers because of him,
If my love denied and the heart disavowed,
Behold my tears, flowing so they may question him.
Oh my tears, keep asking about it.
