مَا لِلْحَشيشَةِ فَضْلٌ عِنْدَ آكِلِهَا

مَا لِلْحَشيشَةِ فَضْلٌ عِنْدَ آكِلِهَا

لَكِنَّهُ غَيْرُ مَصْرُوفٍ إِلى رَشَدِهْ

لَكِنَّهُ غَيْرُ مَصْرُوفٍ إِلى رَشَدِهْ

Hashish has no merit in its eater’s eyes,

The grass has no merit to the one who eats it

yet he is not turned toward sound judgment.

Yet it does not lead him to wisdom

صَفْرَاءُ في وَجْهِهِ خَضْرَاءُ في فَمِهِ

صَفْرَاءُ في وَجْهِهِ خَضْرَاءُ في فَمِهِ

حَمْرَاءُ في عَيْنِهِ سَوْدَاءُ في كَبِدِهْ

حَمْرَاءُ في عَيْنِهِ سَوْدَاءُ في كَبِدِهْ

Yellow in his face, green in his mouth,

Yellow is his face, green is in his mouth

red in his eye, black in his liver.

Red are his eyes, black is his liver
