مِنْ حِين جَلَا العِذَار في الخَدِّ نَباتْ

أَحْيَا بِوصَالِهِ وَبالهَجْرِ أَماتْ

أَحْيَا بِوصَالِهِ وَبالهَجْرِ أَماتْ

Ever since down appeared, sprouting on his cheek,

He gave life through union with him, and through separation dealt death.

وَحياةِ هَواكَ طَلّق النَّوْم ثَلاث كذا

وَحياةِ هَواكَ طَلّق النَّوْم ثَلاث كذا

مَنْ تَهْجُرُه فَلاَ تَسلْ كَيْفَ يَباتْ

مَنْ تَهْجُرُه فَلاَ تَسلْ كَيْفَ يَباتْ

By the life of love for you, he has divorced sleep thrice—so fares

The one you forsake; do not ask how he spends the night.
