لَعَمْرُكَby your life لَمْdid not أدُرْgo round بِالشِّربِamong the drinkers إِلّاexcept
لَعَمْرُكَ لَمْ أدُرْ بِالشِّربِ إِلّا
عَلىout of كَلِفيmy passion بِتَقْبيلِfor kissing الثُّغُورِlips
عَلى كَلِفي بِتَقْبيلِ الثُّغُورِ
By your life, I knew nothing of drinking save
By your life, I have gone round among drinkers only
through my passion for kissing lips.

وَمنْand whoever نَزلتْdescended بِهِمْupon them غُمَمٌsorrows فإِنّيthen indeed I
وَمنْ نَزلتْ بِهِمْ غُمَمٌ فإِنّي
أُبَدِّلُهَاI replace them سَريعَاًswiftly بِالسُّرورِwith joy
أُبَدِّلُهَا سَريعَاً بِالسُّرورِ
And when sorrows descend upon anyone,

I swiftly replace them with joy.
