O you beneath whose sway all hearts have grown obedient,
O you, to whose hands hearts have become submissive,
Here is your ardent lover—how much your cruelty gives him:
Here is your lovesick lover—how much of your cruelty you bestow on him!
عَذْلٌreproach وَتَسهُّدٌand sleeplessness وَوَجْدٌand longing وَقِلىًand hatred

Reproach and sleeplessness, passion and aversion;
Reproach, sleeplessness, longing, and hatred—
You do not bestow upon other lovers what you bestow upon him.
What has befallen him has not befallen lovers.
