حَكَىresembled وَجْهُهُhis face النَّقْدينِgold and silver وَالجَوْهَرَand the jewel الَّذيwhose
حَكَى وَجْهُهُ النَّقْدينِ وَالجَوْهَرَ الَّذي
بِمَنْظَرهِat its sight قَلْبُthe heart الشَّجِيof the sorrowful one يَتلذَّذُtakes delight
بِمَنْظَرهِ قَلْبُ الشَّجِي يَتلذَّذُ
His face mirrors the two precious metals and the jewel at whose
His face mirrored gold and silver and the jewel whose
appearance the lovesick heart takes delight.
sight delights the sorrowful heart.
لُجَيْنٌsilver ثَنايَاهُhis front teeth عَقِيقٌcarnelian شِفَاهُهُhis lips
لُجَيْنٌ ثَنايَاهُ عَقِيقٌ شِفَاهُهُ
وَخَدَّاهُand his two cheeks تِبْرٌunworked gold وَالعِذَارُand the cheek-down زُمرُّدُemerald
وَخَدَّاهُ تِبْرٌ وَالعِذَارُ زُمرُّدُ
Silver are his front teeth; carnelian, his lips.
His front teeth are silver; his lips, carnelian;
His cheeks are uncoined gold, and his sideburn emerald.
and his cheeks are unworked gold, and his cheek-down, emerald.
