Spring has arrived; set forth toward joy.

And give your drinking companion the choicest tawny wine.

Bring the radiant wine whose lights

erase the darkness of the pitch-black night.

Wine that moves in a body of fire, wearing

in the cupbearer's palm a shirt of air.

And leave cares aside when you resolve to embrace it:

a virgin, from the hand of a graceful virgin maiden.

Where the songstresses of the boughs are cooing,

their song is ours, without human singing.

And the tree-brides are unveiled in ornaments

    fashioned from silver and gold.

And the gauzy robes of leaves over their slender forms

are rent when the grey dove sings in rapture.

And the earth's mouth laughs in wonder when

the clouds mingle smiling with weeping.

And life is fresh, and time is on our side,

and our gathering is full of joy.
