طَالَتْhave gone on long إِلَيْكَto you رَسَائِلِيmy letters وَوَسَائِلِيand my entreaties
طَالَتْ إِلَيْكَ رَسَائِلِي وَوَسَائِلِي
ياO ذَاpossessor of المَلاحَةِbeauty والعِذَارِand the down along the cheeks السَّائِلِflowing
يا ذَا المَلاحَةِ والعِذَارِ السَّائِلِ
My letters and entreaties to you have gone on so long.
My messages and means have long reached out to you
O you of beauty and flowing cheek-down,
O you of flowing tears and plaintive love
أَنْجِزْfulfill your promise بِوَصْلٍwith union مِنْكَfrom you لِيfor me فَإِلىso until مَتَىwhen
أَنْجِزْ بِوَصْلٍ مِنْكَ لِي فَإِلى مَتَى
يَاO نُورَlight of عَيْنِيmy eye بِالوُعُودِwith promises مُماطِليyou who put me off
يَا نُورَ عَيْنِي بِالوُعُودِ مُماطِلي
Make good your promise by granting me union with you—for how long,
Fulfill your promise of union with me, for how long
O light of my eye, will you put me off with promises?
Will you procrastinate, O light of my eye?
