هَذَاthis الفَقِيرُthe poor man الَّذيwhom تَراهُyou see him
هَذَا الفَقِيرُ الَّذي تَراهُ
كَالفَرْخِlike a chick مُلْقىًcast down بِغَيْرِwithout رِيشِfeathers
كَالفَرْخِ مُلْقىً بِغَيْرِ رِيشِ
This poor fellow whom you see,
This poor man whom you see
like a chick cast down without feathers—
is like a chick, cast down without feathers.
قَدْindeed قَتلَتْهُkilled him الحَشِيشُhashish سُكْراًthrough intoxication
قَدْ قَتلَتْهُ الحَشِيشُ سُكْراً
وَالقَتْلُand killing مِنْfrom عَادةِthe habit of الحَشِيشِhashish
وَالقَتْلُ مِنْ عَادةِ الحَشِيشِ
hashish has killed him through intoxication,
Hashish has killed him through intoxication,
and killing is among the habits of hashish.
and killing is a habit of hashish.
