يَاO مَنْthose who لَهُمْto them عَلَيَّupon me وَحْدِيI alone فَرْضُa duty
يَا مَنْ لَهُمْ عَلَيَّ وَحْدِي فَرْضُ
لَمْdid not يُبْقِleave تَهتُّكِيmy shameless abandon بِكُمْfor you لِيfor me عِرْضُhonor
لَمْ يُبْقِ تَهتُّكِي بِكُمْ لِي عِرْضُ
O you to whom I alone owe a duty,
O you who have a right upon lonely me
My shameless passion for you has left me no honor.
My honor is not left with your assault on me
أَحْبابيmy beloveds مُذْsince نأيتُمُyou went far away عَنْfrom بَصَرِيmy sight
أَحْبابي مُذْ نأيتُمُ عَنْ بَصَرِي
ضَاقَتْgrew narrow وَحياتِكُمْby your lives عليَّupon me الأَرْضُthe earth
ضَاقَتْ وَحياتِكُمْ عليَّ الأَرْضُ
My beloveds, since you went far from my sight,
My loved ones since you've gone out of my sight
By your lives, the earth has grown narrow around me.
Without you, the earth is straitened upon me
