Come, tell me: how long this coldness and coyness?
Tell me, how long will your disdain and coquetry last?
You are not one for whom anything is impossible.
You are not one who finds pretense becoming.

Neither an admonisher nor one who made your purpose difficult.

I receive harshness and rejection from you,
For me you show hardness and rejection,
while others receive tenderness and union.
Yet for others you show affection and union.

Set aside beauty’s coyness; be fair and tell me:
Leave off your coquetry and be fair, and tell me:
What part of rejection is permissible?
What rejection between us can be legitimate?

Weariness has come between us.

O languid-eyed one, for me your eyelid
wears no kohl but sleeplessness.
Has no consolation except sleep and withdrawal.
