If his heart softened toward the one enamored of him,
If his heart was touched by love
He would not begrudge a string of pearls from his smiling mouth.
He would not spare the pearls of his verse,
ماnot قَصْدِيَmy intent لَثْمَهُkissing him وَلكِنْand yet غَرضِيmy aim

My intent is not to kiss him, but my aim
I do not seek to kiss his lips,
Is to convey a little request to him in his mouth.
But to convey my message through his mouth
