ياO مالكmaster of رَقَّbondage الصَبُّthe lovesick lover باللَّهِby God عَلَيْكَupon you
يا مالك رَقَّ الصَبُّ باللَّهِ عَلَيْكَ
ارْحَمhave mercy on حائراًa bewildered one يُسايِلُmakes flow الدَمعَthe tears عَليكَfor you
ارْحَم حائراً يُسايِلُ الدَمعَ عَليكَ
O master of the lovesick lover's bondage, by God, I implore you:
O guardian, the young man is distressed, for God's sake
Have mercy on a bewildered one who sheds tears for you.
Have mercy on a lost soul whose tears fall for you
وَاسمَحand be generous بِخَيالٍwith a vision فيin الدُجىthe night's darkness يطرُقُvisits at night مَنone who
وَاسمَح بِخَيالٍ في الدُجى يطرُقُ مَن
أَضحَىhas become دنفاًwasted with lovesickness أذابَهُhas melted him الشّوْقُlonging إِليكَfor you
أَضحَى دنفاً أذابَهُ الشّوْقُ إِليكَ
And grant a vision in the night's darkness to visit one
Permit the thoughts in the darkness of one
Who has grown lovesick, melted by longing for you.
Who has melted with yearning and longing for you
