لمّاwhen دَرَتْshe learned أَنّthat المُحِبَّthe lover بِغَيْرِهاin anyone other than her
لمّا دَرَتْ أَنّ المُحِبَّ بِغَيْرِها
وبِغَيْرِand in anything other than ذِكْرَىremembrance حُبّهاlove for her لَمْdid not يَطْرَبِfeel delight
وبِغَيْرِ ذِكْرَى حُبّها لَمْ يَطْرَبِ
When she learned that the lover, in anyone but her
When she knew that her lover was interested in another
And in anything but remembrance of loving her, found no delight,
And was delighted not with thoughts of her love
هَجرتْهُshe forsook him حِيناًfor a while ثُمّthen لمّاwhen أَنْعَمَتْshe showed favor
هَجرتْهُ حِيناً ثُمّ لمّا أَنْعَمَتْ
جَاءَتْهshe came to him فيin رَمَضانRamadan قَبْلَbefore المَغْرِبِsunset
جَاءَتْه في رَمَضان قَبْلَ المَغْرِبِ
She forsook him for a while; then, when she showed favor,
She abandoned him for a time, but then when she was kind
She came to him in Ramadan, before sunset.
