قَد تَخَلَّلتَ مَسلَكَ الروحِ مِنّي

قَد تَخَلَّلتَ مَسلَكَ الروحِ مِنّي

وَبِذا سُمِّيَ الخَليلُ الخَليلا

وَبِذا سُمِّيَ الخَليلُ الخَليلا

You have permeated the soul’s pathway within me.

You have seeped into my spirit's path

And thus the intimate friend was called “the intimate friend.”

And so the lover is called the beloved

وَإِذا ما نَطَقتُ كُنتَ صَحيحاً

وَإِذا ما نَطَقتُ كُنتَ صَحيحاً

وَإِذا ما سَكَتُّ كُنتَ عَليلا

وَإِذا ما سَكَتُّ كُنتَ عَليلا

And whenever I spoke, you were well.

When I speak, you are right

And whenever I fell silent, you were ailing.

When I’m silent, you are ill
