أَبينيexplain plainly لَناto us أَيُّهاO الواسِعَهthe wide one
أَبيني لَنا أَيُّها الواسِعَه
أَعاصِيَةٌdisobedient? أَنتِyou (feminine) أَمor طائِعَهobedient
أَعاصِيَةٌ أَنتِ أَم طائِعَه
Speak plainly to us, O wide one:
Show us, O vast one,
are you disobedient or obedient?
Whether you are disobedient or compliant,
فَقَدfor indeed أَنكَرَcondemned الناسُthe people ماقَدwhat already جَنَيcommitted (verb stem)
فَقَد أَنكَرَ الناسُ ماقَد جَنَي
تِyou (feminine verb ending) فَهَلso, will ...? أَنتِyou (feminine) فيin مِثلِهاthe like of it راجِعَهreturning
تِ فَهَل أَنتِ في مِثلِها راجِعَه
For the people have condemned what you have done;
For people have denied what you have reaped,
will you then return to the like of it?
So will you return to the like of it?
أَتانيreached me لَهاabout her خَبَرٌa report شائِعٌwidely circulating
أَتاني لَها خَبَرٌ شائِعٌ
كَوَحشَةِlike the dreadfulness of أَخبارِكِyour reports الشَائِعَهwidely circulating
كَوَحشَةِ أَخبارِكِ الشَائِعَه
A widely circulating report about her reached me,
News of her came to me,
as dreadful as the widely circulating reports of you.
Rumors like those plentiful rumors of yours,
وَقُلتُand I said لِوَهبٍto Wahb وَلَمand did not أَحتَشِمhold back out of embarrassment
وَقُلتُ لِوَهبٍ وَلَم أَحتَشِم
وَلَمand did not تَمضِpass ليfor me كِلمَةٌa word ضائِعَهwasted
وَلَم تَمضِ لي كِلمَةٌ ضائِعَه
And I spoke to Wahb without holding back,
And I said to Wahb without any shame,
nor did a word of mine go to waste:
No word of mine went wasted,
أَياO وَهبُWahb لِمwhy هَتَفَتshe called out بِالوَزيto the minis-
أَيا وَهبُ لِم هَتَفَت بِالوَزي
رِ-ter (completes 'minister') لَعَلَّكَperhaps you بَيَّتَّهاyou made her spend the night جائِعَهhungry
رِ لَعَلَّكَ بَيَّتَّها جائِعَه
O Wahb, why did she call upon the minister?
Wahb, why did you cry out bitterly,
Perhaps you made her spend the night hungry.
Perhaps you left her hungry,
فَجاءَتso she came تَظَلَّمُcomplaining of injustice مِنof ظالِمٍan oppressor
فَجاءَت تَظَلَّمُ مِن ظالِمٍ
إِلىto مُنصِفٍa just man أُذنُهُhis ear سامِعَهlistening
إِلى مُنصِفٍ أُذنُهُ سامِعَه
So she came complaining of an oppressor
She came complaining of an oppressor,
to a just man whose ear was listening.
To a fair judge with a listening ear,
أَمِor اِستَشرَطَتهُshe asked him to bleed her فَخافَتthen she feared بِأَنthat
أَمِ اِستَشرَطَتهُ فَخافَت بِأَن
يَظُنُّhe would think بِهاof her أَنَّهاthat she واسِعَهwide
يَظُنُّ بِها أَنَّها واسِعَه
Or did she ask him to bleed her, then fear that
Did she stipulate him and then fear
he would think her wide?
That he might think her easy,
فَأَبدَتso she showed لَهُto him العِشقَpassion مُختالَةًstrutting proudly
فَأَبدَت لَهُ العِشقَ مُختالَةً
وَأَبدَتand she revealed لَهُto him الضَرطَةَthe fart الرائِعَهstartling
وَأَبدَت لَهُ الضَرطَةَ الرائِعَه
So she showed him her passion, strutting proudly,
So she showed him passionate love,
and let out before him a startling fart.
And showed him piercing coyness.
