قُمrise تَأَمَّلcontemplate بِناwith us عَجائِبَmarvels دَهرٍan age
قُم تَأَمَّل بِنا عَجائِبَ دَهرٍ
كُتِبَتwere decreed فيهِin it لِلرِجالِfor men الرِماكُthe mares
كُتِبَت فيهِ لِلرِجالِ الرِماكُ
Rise, and contemplate with us the marvels of an age
Rise and behold with us the wonders of time
In which mares were decreed for men.
In which shooting was prescribed for men
وَماand not أَسَرَّتharbored secretly أُمُّmother of العِيالِthe children سُروراًjoy
وَما أَسَرَّت أُمُّ العِيالِ سُروراً
مُنذُsince قالواthey said أَبوfather of العِيالِthe children يُناكُis fucked
مُنذُ قالوا أَبو العِيالِ يُناكُ
And the children's mother has harbored no joy
And the mother of children has not rejoiced in joy

وَيَخِسُّand grows paltry النَصيبُthe portion حَتّىuntil يَقِلَّdwindles الthe
وَيَخِسُّ النَصيبُ حَتّى يَقِلَّ ال
حَظُّshare فيهِin it وَيَكثُرُand multiply الأَشراكُthe partners
حَظُّ فيهِ وَيَكثُرُ الأَشراكُ
And the portion grows paltry, until the
And the fortune shrinks until the
share in it dwindles and the partners multiply.
Share in it decreases and competitors increase
قُدَّتِwas cut الفِلوَةُthe filly الخُضَيراءُthe little green one مِنهُfrom him
قُدَّتِ الفِلوَةُ الخُضَيراءُ مِنهُ
شَبَهاًin likeness مِثلَlike ماthe way يُقَدُّis cut الشِراكُthe sandal-strap
شَبَهاً مِثلَ ما يُقَدُّ الشِراكُ
The little green filly was cut from him
The flat green land was led by it
In likeness, as a sandal-strap is cut.
Resembling what leads the competitor
فَعَلىso upon العَينِthe eye تَخيَةٌa twitch تُظهِرُreveals الحِكthe itch- (continued)
فَعَلى العَينِ تَخيَةٌ تُظهِرُ الحِك
كَةَ-ing (word continuation) فيهاin it وَفيand in العِجانِthe perineum حُكاكُitching
كَةَ فيها وَفي العِجانِ حُكاكُ
So upon the eye is a twitch that reveals the itch-
So the eyelid has a spasm that shows
ing in it, and in the perineum an itch.
Wisdom in it and in the brow admonition
فَقهَةٌan anus تُكثِرُincreases الحَراكَthe movement وَأَيرٌand a cock
فَقهَةٌ تُكثِرُ الحَراكَ وَأَيرٌ
ساقِطُbereft of الحِسِّsensation لَيسَthere is no فيهِin it حَراكُmovement
ساقِطُ الحِسِّ لَيسَ فيهِ حَراكُ
An anus that moves a great deal, and a cock
A sagacity that increases confusion and a lame
Bereft of sensation, with no movement in it.
Unfeeling leg in which there is no movement
