Live honored, in the shade of a praiseworthy life,

joining its cord to the cord of eternity.

O Abu Nahshal, wear out the two ever-new ones—night and day—

with a life ever new for as long as the nights endure.

May the days favor you with days from among their number,

of good fortune joined to good fortune.

    فَتهَنّا حُلولَ هَذا العيدِ

    Fasting has now ended for you and for us;

so rejoice in the arrival of this Eid.

The fast-breaking day is among days as you are in the house of

[Unclear fragment] Humayd and the house of Abd al-Hamid.

May God gladden you—rather, your joy lies in

the bounty and generosity you practice.

Why, then, should I seek more for you where

bounty has left you no room for increase?
