ʿAṭb, you begrudged us al-Muqarrab;
You begrudged us an ill-bred, broken-down steed;
And never, as long as I live, shall you see me ask for him.
and never, as long as I live, will you see me ask for it.
فَإِنso if تَقُلyou say صُنتُهُI kept it inviolate فَماthen not خَلَقَcreated اللَـGod (name begins)
فَإِن تَقُل صُنتُهُ فَما خَلَقَ اللَـ

If you say, “I kept him safe,” then Go—
If you say, “I kept it inviolate,” God created nothing
—d created nothing safe while you ride him.
inviolate while you ride it.
