    Hadramawt—and where indeed is Hadramawt?

A land beyond the wastes and deserts.

Is my father, my brother, your father, that he should be lampooned,

or the father of your Khath'amite cobbler?

We are those you know, whose nobility is

complete; so deal graciously with the noble.

Forebears—had you seen them, you would have discerned

    their precedence over other forebears.

And when you assay your elder among them,

long is the money-changer's scrutiny of him.

He has no trade except in the bristles of

swine among his people, and the sharpening of awls.
