أَباO Abu حَسَنٍHasan إِنَّindeed حُسنَgoodness of العَزاbearing grief (word continued)
أَبا حَسَنٍ إِنَّ حُسنَ العَزا
ءِcompletion of 'bearing grief' عِندَamid المُصيباتِcalamities وَالنازِلاتِand afflictions
ءِ عِندَ المُصيباتِ وَالنازِلاتِ
Abū Ḥasan, surely, bearing sorrow well
O Abu Hasan, indeed, for bearing grief well
amid calamities and afflictions

يُضاعِفُdoubles فيهِfor it الإِلَهُGod الثَواthe reward (word continued)
يُضاعِفُ فيهِ الإِلَهُ الثَوا
بَcompletion of 'reward' لِلصابِرينَfor patient men وَلِلصابِراتِand for patient women
بَ لِلصابِرينَ وَلِلصابِراتِ
is a deed for which God multiplies the reward
God doubles the reward
for steadfast men and steadfast women.

وَمَنزِلَةُand the standing of الصَبرِpatience عِندَin the face of البَلاءِaffliction
وَمَنزِلَةُ الصَبرِ عِندَ البَلاءِ
كَمَنزِلَةِlike the standing of الشُكرِgratitude عِندَupon receiving الهِباتِgifts
كَمَنزِلَةِ الشُكرِ عِندَ الهِباتِ
Patience in adversity holds the same station
And the worth of patience in affliction
as gratitude when gifts are bestowed.

وَمِنand among نِعَمِthe blessings of اللَهِGod لاno شَكَّdoubt فيهِabout it
وَمِن نِعَمِ اللَهِ لا شَكَّ فيهِ
بَقاءُthe survival of البَنينَsons وَمَوتُand the death of البَناتِdaughters
بَقاءُ البَنينَ وَمَوتُ البَناتِ
And among God’s blessings—without a doubt—
And among God's blessings—there is no doubt of it—
are the survival of sons and the death of daughters.

مُ دَفنُ البَناتِ مِنَ المَكرُماتِ
For the Prophet said—peace be upon him—
for the Prophet—peace be upon him—said:
“Burying daughters is among noble deeds.”
"Burying daughters is among honorable deeds."
