Chaste of tongue, mute before obscenities.

A noble man whom hearts adore, whom others would ransom

With their lives, for his tenderness and sweetness.

With delight, and with a tale of weight and worth.

Why do I find that most men of letters have won

The prize of wealth, while you are the very picture of a pauper?

It was surely your due to enter wealth before dawn

Through Mughallis son of Hudhayfa son of Mughallis,

Through your true friend, united with you by

Long-standing youthful gallantry and suckling at the cups.
