ياِبنَO son of مُرٍّMurr قَولَthe words of مُرتَدِعِone who takes heed
ياِبنَ مُرٍّ قَولَ مُرتَدِعِ
وَلِهاديand to the guide of الرُشدِright conduct مُتَّبِعِa follower
وَلِهادي الرُشدِ مُتَّبِعِ
O son of Murr, I speak the words of one who has taken heed,
O son of bitterness, holder of bitter speech,
and follows the guide to right conduct.
And follower of the rightly guided leader,
قَدindeed رَحَلناwe have departed عَنfrom ذَراكَyour shelter إِلىto
قَد رَحَلنا عَن ذَراكَ إِلى
وَطَنٍa homeland رَحبٍbroad وَمُتَّسِعِand spacious
وَطَنٍ رَحبٍ وَمُتَّسِعِ
We have indeed departed from your shelter for
We have departed from you to
a homeland broad and spacious.
A vast and spacious homeland,
وَوَكَلناكُمand we have entrusted you إِلىto نَفرٍa band of men
وَوَكَلناكُم إِلى نَفرٍ
ذَهَبواthey went away بِالعِلمِwith learning وَالوَرَعِand piety
ذَهَبوا بِالعِلمِ وَالوَرَعِ
And we have entrusted you to a band of men
And we have entrusted you to a group
who have carried off learning and piety:
Who have gone with knowledge and piety,
مِنamong them شَراحيلَSharahil اِبنِson of حَلحَلَةٍHalhalah
مِن شَراحيلَ اِبنِ حَلحَلَةٍ
وَهِشامٍand Hisham وَأَبيand the father of اليَسَعِal-Yasaʿ
وَهِشامٍ وَأَبي اليَسَعِ
among them Sharahil son of Halhalah,
From the descendants of Ibn Halhalah,
and Hisham and Abu al-Yasaʿ.
