ياO خَليلَيَّmy two friends وَأُيورُand penises أَمانَهa trust
يا خَليلَيَّ وَأُيورُ أَمانَه
وَالبُظورُand the clitorises المُبَقَّياتُleft intact دِيانَهpiety
وَالبُظورُ المُبَقَّياتُ دِيانَه
O my two friends, penises are a trust,
My friend, those treasured nights gone by
And clitorises left intact are piety.
When modesty cloaked pleasures now laid bare
لَمdid not تُغِبَّforgo الخِتانَcircumcision أُمُّmother of مُوَيسٍMuways
لَم تُغِبَّ الخِتانَ أُمُّ مُوَيسٍ
أَنَّهاbecause she لَمdid not تَجِدfind كِراthe fee of الخَتّانَهthe female circumciser
أَنَّها لَم تَجِد كِرا الخَتّانَه
Umm Muways did not forgo circumcision
Umm Muways did not refuse the blade
Because she could not find the female circumciser's fee.
But no honor in that blood found there
قَدindeed رَأَيناهُwe saw him وَهوَwhile he was واليadministrator of خَراجٍland tax
قَد رَأَيناهُ وَهوَ والي خَراجٍ
وَعَهِدناهُand we knew him وَهوَwhile he was خَمّارُwine-seller of حانَهa tavern
وَعَهِدناهُ وَهوَ خَمّارُ حانَه
We have seen him administering the land tax,
We saw him as tax collector once
And we knew him as a tavern's wine-seller.
And as a tavern keeper otherwhen
