The tune on the strings has an echo responding,
His sidelocks and tresses curled like scorpions.
Its clauses adorned and its phrases flowing.

When wine refreshes him, his cheek shines forth,
When the breeze blows lightly, it gleams with a ray,
Glowing when the stars of night have vanished.
Illuminating when the stars of night fade.

Pass it round, for this garden’s breeze gives life,
Turn it gently, and this garden's breeze gives life,
And this is God’s trusted one, whose gifts enrich.
And this trustee of God, his gifts bring joy.

In which the Commander of the Faithful and his scribe have clothed it.
Adorned by the Prince of Believers and his scribe.
