وَشاعِرٍand a poet نِسبَتُهُhis lineage
وَشاعِرٍ نِسبَتُهُ
بِحيلَةٍby a ruse مِنamong حِيَلِةhis ruses
بِحيلَةٍ مِن حِيَلِة
And a poet whose lineage
A poet whose lineage
rests on one of his ruses;
By a trick of trickery
تُذكِرُناreminds us رُؤيَتُهُthe sight of him
تُذكِرُنا رُؤيَتُهُ
مُتالِعاًMutāliʿ (a mountain) فيin ثِقَلِةhis heaviness
مُتالِعاً في ثِقَلِة
the sight of him reminds us
Reminds us of seeing him
of Mutāliʿ in his heaviness.
Dazzling in gravity
آباؤُهُhis forefathers مِنfrom كَسبِهِhis acquisition
آباؤُهُ مِن كَسبِهِ
وَخُفُّهُand his leather shoe مِنfrom عَمَلِهِhis handiwork
وَخُفُّهُ مِن عَمَلِهِ
His forefathers are of his own making,
His fathers from his livelihood
and his leather shoe is his own handiwork.
And his lightness from his work
