لَناfor us حاجَةٌa need ماكانَwas not جانيthe one responsible for سُؤالِهاasking for it
لَنا حاجَةٌ ماكانَ جاني سُؤالِها
وَصولاًobliging وَلاnor مَسؤولُهاthe one asked for it الفَسلُthe base fellow مُنصِفاfair
وَصولاً وَلا مَسؤولُها الفَسلُ مُنصِفا
We have a need; yet the one guilty of asking for it
We have a need: the man responsible for asking for it was not
was no man of access, nor was the base fellow petitioned for it fair.

فَزِعنا إِلى الإِضرِنطِ فيها فَأَنصَفا
If al-Ḍarrāṭ—the Farter—refuses to help us with it,
When the habitual farter refused to help us with it,
we resort in the matter to Ibn al-Ḥirnīk, and he deals fairly.
