My share from you is the reproach of chiding women,
and abandonment by which you have caused me pain.

رَدانا في صُدودِ الغانِياتِ
I have seen beautiful women count as gain
our ruin in beautiful women's turning away.

Whenever Lubna incurs blame for a deed,
she shifts the blame onto the talebearers.

Nor has she promised any imminent bounty,
that we might seek from her the fulfillment of promises.

with pestilent waters and no wholesome ground.

Enough for you is what the nights stir up for us
of agonizing separation and dispersal.

All that has passed will grow distant when pursued,
and all that is to come draws nearer as it approaches.

If I seek immortality in this world,
what I strive for comes to me as I wish.

I see that my journey to the farthest end of my road,
through sheer resolve, keeps me from looking back.

Indeed, the one who probes my story has been answered truthfully
by my appearing before my enemies and my swift assault.

I found judgment squandered when it passed
to an insolent beast among the wicked.

Does the defamer stand in the way of my right?
And that is one of the intractable calamities.
