When the sun’s degrees climb higher,

in Pisces, they make Ya‘qub’s silk-and-wool cloth quite needless.

And in spring, when you enjoy it, there is no need

for weavers in the textile workshops of Susa and al-Tib.

You withheld from me the pledged prize you would bestow

    in a pitch-dark, raven-black piece of the sun’s skin.
