Tell al-Urund, when he reaches al-Rawhayn, not to

    convey greetings to Abu Malbus.

A house where generosity is unknown, and the

practice of kindness denied among deacons and priests.

They have never heard of noble deeds, nor has there alighted

in their house any guest except Iblis.

Their ears are deaf to the one calling them to the

fray, but attentive to the church bell.

Their enemy is forever in prosperity

from their wealth, while their friend is in misery.

Their swords are wood, and their women's oath—

if they are truthful—is by the priest's penis.

And when you examine their roots, they trace back to

a dubious lineage, like the first shimmer of a mirage.

Enough of reproaching Banu ʿUṣayr! They

have made baseness of lineage and soul their own.

So their faces wear a covering of disgrace,

and on their heads are the horns of he-goats.

Do not give the name Abu al-Walid to one who has acquired

    a donkey's character and a buffalo's form.
