And one who laughs at my tears and weeping,
Mocking my sobbing and my cries
in whose hands lie my sickness in love and my cure,
With his hands, the cure for my love's agony

He saw me, my eyes streaming with plentiful tears
while estrangement had torn the veil of my composure.
And separation had uncovered my consolation's veil
بَسَطتُI stretched out إِلَيهِtoward him راحَتيmy palm مُتَضَرِّعاًin supplication
أُناشِدُهُI beseech him أَلّاnot to يُخيبَdisappoint رَجائيmy hope
I stretched my palm toward him in supplication,
I stretched my palm to him, pleading
beseeching him not to disappoint my hope.
That he not disappoint my hope
فَقالَthen he said فَمَنthen who أَبكاكَmade you weep إِنif كُنتَyou are صادِقاًtruthful
فَقُلتُthen I said الَّذيthe one whom أَهوىI love فَقالَthen he said سَوائيsomeone other than me
Then he said, “Who made you weep, if you are truthful?”
So he said "Who made you cry, if you are truthful?"
I said, “The one I love.” He said, “Someone other than me.”
I said "The one I love," and he said "It's equal to me"
