Greetings, O Yemeni king.
Greetings O King of Yemen
Separation has indeed prevailed over closeness.
Distance has overcome nearness
ثَمانٍeight قَدalready مَضَينَhave passed بِلاwithout تَلاقٍmeeting
وَماand there is no فيin الصَبرِpatience فَضلٌreserve عَنbeyond ثَمانِeight
Eight have passed without a meeting,
Eight years have passed without meeting
And patience has no reserve beyond eight.
There is no merit in patience over eight
وَماand not أَعتَدُّI take account مِنfrom عُمريmy life بِيَومٍof a day
يَمُرُّpasses وَلاand not أَراكَI see you وَلاand not تَرانيyou see me
And I do not count as part of my life a day
I do not consider any day of my life
That passes when I do not see you and you do not see me.
That passes without my seeing you or your seeing me
