لَتَصدُقَنّيyou must tell me the truth وَماand not أَخشاكَI fear you تَكذِبُنيyou lie to me
لَتَصدُقَنّي وَما أَخشاكَ تَكذِبُني
ماذاwhat تَأَمَّلتَyou considered أَوor أَمَّلتَyou hoped for فيin أَمَلِAmal
ماذا تَأَمَّلتَ أَو أَمَّلتَ في أَمَلِ
You must tell me the truth; I do not fear you will lie to me.
You will believe me, though I fear not you'll deny,
What did you see, or hope for, in Amal?
What have you wished for or hoped in hopeless hope?
النَسلَoffspring حاوَلتَyou sought مِنهاfrom her فَهيَyet she is مُدبِرَةٌpast her prime
النَسلَ حاوَلتَ مِنها فَهيَ مُدبِرَةٌ
قَدalready جاوَزَتshe has passed beyond مُنذُsince حينٍa while عُقبَةَthe steep ascent الحَبَلِpregnancy
قَد جاوَزَت مُنذُ حينٍ عُقبَةَ الحَبَلِ
You sought offspring from her, yet she is past her prime;
A child you've tried for, but she is barren,
She passed beyond the steep ascent of pregnancy some time ago.
Long has she passed the strait of pregnancy.
إِذاwhen اِنتَشَرتَyou become erect عَلىfor أَمثالِهاwomen like her شَبَقاًout of lust
إِذا اِنتَشَرتَ عَلى أَمثالِها شَبَقاً
فَاِنعَمthen enjoy بِفَيشَلَةٍwith a glans (penis head) مَأمونَةِsafe from الفَشَلِfailure
فَاِنعَم بِفَيشَلَةٍ مَأمونَةِ الفَشَلِ
When you grow erect with lust for women like her,
If you spread your lust upon her likes unrestrained
Then enjoy a glans guaranteed not to fail.
Then enjoy a whore, safe from failure.
وَأَيُّand what خَيرٍgood يُرَجّىis hoped for عِندَfrom مومِسَةٍa prostitute
وَأَيُّ خَيرٍ يُرَجّى عِندَ مومِسَةٍ
زَلّاءَflat-buttocked مِنat دُبُرٍthe rear وَقباءَwide-vulvaed مِنat قُبُلِthe front
زَلّاءَ مِن دُبُرٍ وَقباءَ مِن قُبُلِ
And what good can be hoped for from a prostitute,
What good is expected with a harlot,
Flat behind and cavernous in front?
Fickle of behind, bleak of front?
لاnot يُرتَضىis found pleasing قَدُّهاher figure عِندَduring العِناقِembracing وَلاnor
لا يُرتَضى قَدُّها عِندَ العِناقِ وَلا
يُثنىpraise is bestowed عَلىupon خَدِّهاher cheek فيat ساعَةِthe time القُبَلِkisses
يُثنى عَلى خَدِّها في ساعَةِ القُبَلِ
Her figure is not pleasing in an embrace, nor
Her stature unsatisfactory in embrace,
is her cheek praised at the time of kisses.
Nor praised her cheek in the moment of kiss.
مُدارَةُrounded الخَلقِbodily form مِنfrom عَرضٍbreadth إِلىto قِصَرِshortness
مُدارَةُ الخَلقِ مِن عَرضٍ إِلى قِصَرِ
كَأَنَّماas though دُحرِجَتshe was rolled فيin أَخمَصَيthe two hollow soles جُعَلِa dung beetle
كَأَنَّما دُحرِجَت في أَخمَصَي جُعَلِ
Rounded in build, broad and short,
Dealing with people from honor to meanness,
As though she had been rolled in the hollows of a dung beetle's two feet.
As if rolled in mule dung.
تَقضيyou pay بِقوتِwith the food عِياليmy dependents حَقَّthe fee زَورَتِهاher visit
تَقضي بِقوتِ عِيالي حَقَّ زَورَتِها
لِلَّهِto God (exclamatory) أَنتَyou لَقَدindeed أَفحَشتَyou have been obscene فيin الغَزَلِlove poetry
لِلَّهِ أَنتَ لَقَد أَفحَشتَ في الغَزَلِ
You pay the fee for her visit with my family's food.
She spends my dependents' livelihood on her false pleasure,
God bless you—you have indeed been obscene in your love verse!
By God, you have been vulgar in courtship.
