We have matured and grown gray; the lookout heights have wearied us,
And the winds of the high lookout are fierce.

إنif طابhe does good ..يحمدhe is praised وإنand if تردّىhe turns base .. بكيفهit is his choice
إن طاب ..يحمد وإن تردّى .. بكيفه
And how lucky the one no one knows or sees:
If he does good, he is praised; if he turns base, it is his choice.
وحناand we ورثناwe inherited العزhonor عظمbone وغضاريفand cartilage
وحنا ورثنا العز عظم وغضاريف
لاno ماnot ورثناwe inherited العزhonor تاجa crown وقطيفةand a velvet cloak
لا ما ورثنا العز تاج وقطيفة
But we inherited honor in our bones and cartilage,
No, we did not inherit honor as a crown and velvet cloak.
