I am buying no necklace, nor giving a bracelet.
No buyer of pearls, nor bestower of bracelets
Do not burden yourself with worries and regrets.
Do not burden yourself with worries and sorrows

ما تشرب عروق القصيد الوصايف
Wait, delight of my eyes, just long enough
Be patient, O delight of my eyes, for a while
for the veins of verse to drink in your qualities.
Do not let the veins of the ode drink the counsels

نارِ على روس الهضاب النوايف
When I strike a spark from poetry and kindle a fire for you—
Neither she who ignited poetry nor lit a fire for you
a fire on the crests of towering hills—
A fire upon the peaks of the highlands

the night traveler delights in it, and the tambourine carries it through the night,
It pleases the noble and flows with the flyer
and through it lips blossom after drought.
And by it blossoms the lips after change

I myself will give you a lifetime unlike any other;
I gift you my life and all of ages
the pen will perish before it does, and so will the pages.
The pen perishes before it and sheets perish

سر الضلوع المرهفات النحايف
A poem born behind a door and a wall,
An ode born behind a door and wall
the secret of delicate, slender ribs.
Secret of the sensitive ribs and curves

And when morning comes, it flies on the backs of books,
And it flew on the backs of travels
and the pages sing it toward the Nafud.
And sang it before the scouts and messengers

Go away and grow gray, and leave behind all that has passed;
Disappear my absence and old age and leave all that has passed
your beauty will remain in my verse as fresh delights.
Your beauty remains in my ode's turns
