أَوَلَيسَand is it not مِنamong إِحدىone of العَجائِبِthe wonders أَنَّنيthat I
أَوَلَيسَ مِن إِحدى العَجائِبِ أَنَّني
فَارَقتُهُI parted from him فَحَيَّيتُand I lived on بَعدَafter فِراقِهِseparation from him
فَارَقتُهُ فَحَيَّيتُ بَعدَ فِراقِهِ
And is it not one of the wonders that I

Parted from him, yet lived after parting?
ياO مَنyou who يُحاكىresembles البَدرَthe full moon عِندَat تَمامِهِits fullness
يا مَن يُحاكى البَدرَ عِندَ تَمامِهِ
اِرحَمhave mercy on فَتىًa youth يَحكِيهresembles it عِندَat مَحاقِهِits dark phase
اِرحَم فَتىً يَحكِيه عِندَ مَحاقِهِ
O you who resemble the full moon at its fullness,
O he who rivals the full moon in splendor,
Have mercy on a youth who resembles it in its dark phase.
Have mercy on one who recalls him in ruin.
