وَأَنا الَّذي عَلِمتُ مِن طَلَبِ الغِنى

وَأَنا الَّذي عَلِمتُ مِن طَلَبِ الغِنى

كَيفَ الطَريقُ إِلى الغِنى بِرَجائِهِ

كَيفَ الطَريقُ إِلى الغِنى بِرَجائِهِ

And I am the one who learned, in seeking riches,

And I am the one who learned, from seeking wealth,

that the road to riches is through hope in him.

فَظَلِلتُ مَخصوصاً بِحَمدِ عُفاتِهِ

فَظَلِلتُ مَخصوصاً بِحَمدِ عُفاتِهِ

وَغَدَوتُ مَمدوحاً بِشُكرِ عَطائِهِ

وَغَدَوتُ مَمدوحاً بِشُكرِ عَطائِهِ

So I remained singled out through his petitioners’ praise,

So I remained distinguished by the praise of those seeking his bounty,

and came to be lauded through gratitude for his giving.

وَأَفَدتُ قَدماً مُعجِزات فَضائِلي

وَأَفَدتُ قَدماً مُعجِزات فَضائِلي

مِن نورِ فَطنَتِهِ وَنارِ ذَكائِهِ

مِن نورِ فَطنَتِهِ وَنارِ ذَكائِهِ

Long have I drawn the marvels of my virtues

And long ago I acquired the matchless wonders of my virtues

from the light of his discernment and the fire of his intelligence.

فَإِذا نَطَقتُ نَطَقتُ مِن أَلفاظِهِ

فَإِذا نَطَقتُ نَطَقتُ مِن أَلفاظِهِ

وَإِذا وَهَبتُ وَهَبتُ مِن نُعمائِهِ

وَإِذا وَهَبتُ وَهَبتُ مِن نُعمائِهِ

Whenever I speak, I speak in words taken from his;

So when I speak, my speech comes from his words,

and whenever I give, I give from his bounty.
