جُزيتَmay you be rewarded أَفضَلَthe finest ماthat which يجزاهُis rewarded with it ذوa man of كَرَمٍgenerosity
جُزيتَ أَفضَلَ ما يجزاهُ ذو كَرَمٍ
أَخلاقُهُhis virtues فيin دِياجيdark nights دَهرِهِhis lifetime شُعَلُflames
أَخلاقُهُ في دِياجي دَهرِهِ شُعَلُ
May you receive the finest reward bestowed on a generous man,
You have been rewarded the best that a generous one rewards
whose virtues are flames in the dark nights of his life.
His morals in the lamps of his time are flames
حَماهُshielded him وَهُوَwhile he was غُلامٌa youth غَيرُnot مُكتَهِلٍof mature years
حَماهُ وَهُوَ غُلامٌ غَيرُ مُكتَهِلٍ
عَنِfrom المَطامِعِcovetous desires فَضلٌa virtue فيهِin him مُكتَهِلُmature
عَنِ المَطامِعِ فَضلٌ فيهِ مُكتَهِلُ
He was shielded, while still a youth not yet mature,
It protected him while he was a young immature boy
from covetous desires by a virtue in him already mature.
From greed, excellence in him became mature
