فَلَياليso the nights الصِباyouth أَسَرُّmost delightful لَيالٍnights
فَلَيالي الصِبا أَسَرُّ لَيالٍ
وَزَمانُand the time الهَوىlove أَلَذُّsweetest زَمانِtime
وَزَمانُ الهَوى أَلَذُّ زَمانِ
So the nights of youth are the most delightful nights,
The nights of youth are the sweetest nights,
And the time of love is the sweetest time.
And the days of love are the most delightful days.
وَأَسَرُّand the most delightful البِلادlands ماthat where حَمَدَpraised الساthe dwel- (beginning of 'dweller')
وَأَسَرُّ البِلاد ما حَمَدَ السا
كِنُ-ler (completion of 'dweller') فيهاin it خَلائِقَcharacter traits الجيرانِthe neighbors
كِنُ فيها خَلائِقَ الجيرانِ
And the most delightful of lands is where the dwel-
The dearest homeland is the one where people
ler praises the neighbors’ character.
Are good neighbors of pleasant character.
