خَيالُكَyour phantom مِنكَthan you أَعرَفُbetter acquainted بِالغَرامِwith passionate love
خَيالُكَ مِنكَ أَعرَفُ بِالغَرامِ
وَأَرأَفُand more compassionate بِالمُحِبِّtoward the lover المُستَهامِlove-stricken
وَأَرأَفُ بِالمُحِبِّ المُستَهامِ
Your phantom knows love better than you,
And is kinder to the love-stricken lover.
فَلَوso if يَستَطيعُit could حينَwhen حَظَرتَyou forbade نَوميmy sleep
فَلَو يَستَطيعُ حينَ حَظَرتَ نَومي
عَلَيَّto me لَزارَit would visit فيin غَيرِother than المَنامِdreams
عَلَيَّ لَزارَ في غَيرِ المَنامِ
So if it could, when you denied me sleep,
It would visit me outside of dreams.
