علىdespite جَفاءharshness الدّهرِTime منfrom بِرِّهِits bounty
Your lofty court, where I draw water,
Your exalted assembly which I draw
despite Time's harshness, from its bounty—
Solace from in the harshness of fate
فربّماso sometimes أهجرُهI forsake it عامِداًdeliberately
والحبُّand love يدعونيcalls me إلىto هَجرهforsaking it
so sometimes I forsake it deliberately,
I may sometimes willfully desert
and love urges me to forsake it.
Though love calls me back to its door

I have no treasure but it, and a young man
I've no treasure besides it, and youth
dislikes spending from his treasure.
Is loath to spend from its hoard

And even if he does not see it, whenever
Though I see it not, whenever
he thinks of it, it strengthens his back.
I ponder it, my resolve strengthens

فأنتfor you are قلْبُthe heart الدَّهرِof Time فيin صَدْرهits breast
So may we never lose you in any circumstance;
Do not count me fickle at any time
for you are Time's heart within its breast.
For you are the heart of life in its breast
