Whose are these riding camels, their gait a gentle swaying,

their ears inclined toward the camel-driver?

    docile, traveling with shoulders swaying.

the jingling of their jewelry upon their necks.

Among them is Lubna, who has not fulfilled my longing

for her, and Su'da, who has not chosen to gladden me.

They departed, the waft of their perfume before the caravan,

and behind them the breath of the yearning, thirsty lover.

their departing litters, which had taken possession of my heart,

upon the mountain pass as the mounts departed at dawn.
