My she-camel yearns for the eastern side of Naʿmān,

And her nearest grazing ground lies at Jarʿāʾ Mālik.

And if she were complaining of my tether, I would untie her,

But she is hobbled by your tether.

I attack them at dawn among my people, to do battle with them,

And I visit them by night, claiming union with you for myself alone.

And my heart has never complained of their earnest combat,

But it complains of your painful combat.
