جفانيَhe shunned me مولايَmy lord الكريمُthe generous كماas تَرىyou see
جفانيَ مولايَ الكريمُ كما تَرى
فماyet not ازدَدْتُI have increased إلاexcept بالعُهودِto the pledges وَفاءَin faithfulness
فما ازدَدْتُ إلا بالعُهودِ وَفاءَ
My generous lord has shunned me, as you see.
My generous Master has forsaken me, as you see
Yet I have only grown more faithful to my pledges.
Yet I remain, despite it all, ever faithful to my vows
وماand not أناI إلاexcept كالمُدامِlike wine لصاحبيto my companion
وما أنا إلا كالمُدامِ لصاحبي
يَزيدُit increases علىwith طولduration الجفاءِneglect صفاءin clarity
يَزيدُ على طول الجفاءِ صفاء
To my companion, I am but like wine:
I'm like wine for my companion
It grows clearer with prolonged neglect.
