It is passion, whether the tribe stays or departs:
Is it love that settled the living, or did they complain
if they forsake me, they kill; if they grant union, they bewitch.
Whether they emigrated, they were killed, or tried, they were tempted

By Allah, my soul has not settled for anyone
since my solace departed among the neighbors setting out at dawn.
Since the departing neighbor left, my peace left

Yearnings whose echo lasts that its watering place
draws water only when spears serve as well-ropes.
Does not draw water except when the channels pour

Precious items that fill the palm of the hand when obtained
so the woven girths do not shift upon their backs.
So they do not wander above their wrapping

Does any living heart not have agony

And above it every fully loaded aroma
enslaved by love, his passion enduring and concealed.
Its love present, suppressed and hidden

Oh death of the soul, why did you become one who severs
Grant union to your longing lover; may rain-clouds revive your familiar haunts.
Greet your yearning one while the grieving period is new

The Imam’s money is stored with him forever
